When you need a handwritten job application letter

Most applications today are typed, but some employers still ask for a handwritten job application letter. It is common for government and PSU posts, schools and colleges, hospitals, walk-in interviews and small local businesses that want a signed letter on paper with your resume. Copying a full page by hand is slow, and a mistake near the bottom means starting again.

This handwritten job application letter maker removes the copying. Start from a sample template, write your details straight onto the page, and download a letter in realistic handwriting on plain or ruled A4 paper — ready to print and sign.

Job application letter format

Every template follows the standard block format used for formal letters:

  1. Your details — name, address, phone and email at the top.
  2. Date — today's date is filled in for you.
  3. Recipient — "To," followed by the designation (for example, The HR Manager or The Principal), the organisation and its address.
  4. Subject line — "Application for the post of [Job Title]".
  5. Salutation — "Dear Sir/Madam," or "Dear Ms. Sharma," if you know the name; "Respected Sir/Madam," for government and school letters.
  6. Body — three or four short paragraphs: the post and where you saw it, your qualification and experience, why you suit the role, and a request for an interview.
  7. Closing — "Yours sincerely," when you used a name, or "Yours faithfully," after "Sir/Madam", followed by your signature and name.
  8. Enclosures — optional list of documents attached, such as your resume and certificates.

Sample handwritten job application letter (no experience)

This is the opening of the Fresher template — a good sample if you are applying with no work experience:

Subject: Application for the post of Office Assistant

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to apply for the post of Office Assistant at Brightwave Technologies, which I learned about through The Times of India. I have recently completed B.Com from Pune University and I am eager to begin my career with an organisation that values learning and hard work.

During my studies I worked on academic projects, took part in group presentations and completed short courses that improved my computer, communication and problem-solving skills…

Notice how it names the post and the source of the vacancy, then leans on education, projects and willingness to learn instead of work history.

15 templates for different jobs

Open the Style tab and choose from the Letter template dropdown:

  • Entry level: fresher (first job), internship, part-time job and walk-in interview.
  • Experienced and office roles: experienced professional, office assistant or clerk, receptionist, accountant, sales and marketing executive, and software or IT.
  • Education and healthcare: teacher (for teaching jobs at schools and colleges) and nurse.
  • Government and formal: a traditional government or PSU format with "Yours faithfully" and a numbered list of enclosures, a general-purpose letter, and a blank page.

How to write a handwritten job application letter with this tool

After choosing a template, click the page and type over every [bracketed] placeholder — [Your Name], [Company Name], [Job Title] and so on. Add one specific sentence about a project, a result or why you want this job; that is the part an employer remembers. Then use the Style tab to choose a handwriting font and blue or black ink, pick blank, lined or lined-with-margin paper, and drag the ruler handles to set the margins. The counter under the page warns you if the letter runs past the bottom margin — click Fit to page to keep it on one sheet. Your letter is saved in your browser as you work.

Use your own handwriting

To make the letter look like you wrote it, open the Handwriting tab, print the writing sheet, fill it in with a dark pen and upload a photo. The tool builds a font from your letters and writes the application in it. The photo never leaves your device.

Download, print and sign

Download a print-ready A4 PDF, a Word (.docx) file for portals that only accept Word, or a PNG image to send by email. Print on plain white paper at 100% scale and sign above your name in blue or black pen. For an emailed copy, you can add a signature image from the handwritten signature generator.

Tips and an important rule

  • Keep it to one page and four short paragraphs at most.
  • Mention the exact post and where you saw the vacancy in the first paragraph.
  • Make sure no [bracketed] placeholders are left before you download.
  • If a notice says the application must be in your own handwriting, write it yourself — use this tool to plan the wording and layout first.
