Why send a handwritten thank you note?
A handwritten thank you note stands out because it takes effort. People keep them, pin them up and remember who sent them. But writing a stack of notes after a wedding, a birthday or a busy year at work is slow, and not everyone is happy with their handwriting.

Thank you note format
Almost every good thank-you note follows the same five-part format:
- Greeting — "Dear Maya," or "Dear Mr. Sharma,".
- Say thank you for something specific — the gift, the help or the time they gave you.
- Add a personal detail — how you will use the gift, or what their help made possible.
- Look ahead — "I hope we can catch up soon."
- Close and sign — "With love," "Warm regards," or "Sincerely," then your name.
For example: "Dear Maya, thank you so much for the cookbook — I have already made the lemon cake and it was a hit. I can't wait to cook for you next month. With love, Sam." Three to five sentences is plenty.
How to write a handwritten thank you note online
- In the Style tab, choose an occasion and one of its message templates.
- Click the page and replace the [bracketed] words with your own details.
- Select words to make them bold, underlined, larger or a different colour, or centre a line.
- Choose a page style, a card or paper size and a handwriting font.
- Open Add elements to place decorations — drag to move, drag the corner to resize, click × to delete.
